Chasing Indigo worth the effort to find
Finally, a decent lesbian road trip movie!
Native American Naomi finds her girlfriend in bed with another woman (if you can call that a bed). She is forced to wear a "native princess" type costume for her work at a diner. Isn't it her luck to serve a couple of Native Americans who take offence!
Meanwhile, her straight friend Kyra has stashed $1million in stolen loot on the Indigo Girls "Honor the Earth" tour bus, and really, really needs to get the money back. So Kyra heads off in search of the money, with Naomi in tow, in search of her identity. The gals have to make their way through roadies, dykes on bikes, hitchhikers, Indigo Girls' fans, and more. Travelling mostly from Native reserve to Native reserve, Naomi starts to come to terms with a father who abandoned her, while Kyra comes to terms with her sexuality. There's so much angst-ridden, depressing crap out there for lesbians, it's great to have an upbeat film ending like this one. I've interviewed the director, and she's a really sweetie, and has a good political head on her shoulders.
Lots of great jokes, good romance storyline and it pokes a bit of fun at Go Heads and biker dykes, so if you can find it anywhere (film festival, over the internet, wherever), watch it. This film does not deserve the early death of a quirky indie film.
With Alex Rice, Timilee Romolini, Kristi Borgeous, Melanie Michaels, Sheila Kay.
First-time director Carol Brook Marino.
I read somewhere that you might be able to pay-per-view the movie here but I can't be sure because you can't search for movies on the damn site without registering!
It's a 5-star film, worth the effort if you can find it!
