Brushfires

A new to DVD offering from 7 different women directors, using the same characters. The directors, Etta Worthington, Chor Ailene, April Winney, Amber Mohammed, Laura Lonigro, Maria Gigante, and Wendy Jo Carlton, are all from Chicago.

Seven directors come together to create Brushfires, interconnected stories that build on each other, creating a complete film. Each "chapter" has a different tone (as well as a different crew and some changes to characters), although there was mostly a script. Based on Jessica Wilbur’s poem “Brush Fires," and the old game "The Exquisit Corpse" wherein one person starts a drawing and others complete it.

Follow the story of shy Cat who is in love with her straight roommate and friend Melissa, as all of their lives are turned upside down by the pathological Dakota. Explore the themes of love, loss and desire within an ever-changing world where no one person is always in charge.
