This zany women's buddy film from lesbian director Annette Apon has a "magical realist" quality similar to Jacques Rivette's Celine and Julie Go Boating. Anything can happen; plot, motivation, sense and structure can be abandoned at any moment. Though the relationship between Gino and Nina is not identified as lesbian, their affection for one another is intensely portrayed. And as Nina explains, if you don't see any crocodiles in Amsterdam, "lack of a sighting doesn't mean they don't exist."
